L-Systems: a Grammar for Growth

Lindenmayer invented this rewriting grammar in 1968 to model algae growth, not geometry — the same “replace every piece at once” idea behind the Koch and dragon curves, just written on text instead of shapes. Peano, Hilbert, the Sierpinski Arrowhead, and the Gosper curve (Labs 7, 8, 12, and 13) are all L-systems too, each from nothing more than a different axiom, rule set, and angle.
